At a glance

Starry Studio's free survival game combines a hostile world, weapon progression and territories. Decide whether those systems are a hobby you want, rather than chasing a single event reward.

Editorial method: this article assesses published features and current update notes. VexRig has not played this scenario or tested the game on any device. There is no scored verdict.

What the game offers

The official Steam listing describes survival in a polluted world, weapon blueprints, boss encounters, friends and a territory you can build and relocate. Its distinctive survival rule is that polluted food or water lowers Sanity, which in turn reduces maximum HP. Those are concrete systems to test: do you enjoy gathering, maintaining a safe base and preparing for danger between fights?

The 3.0.7 update shows how the live game continues to change. It adds targeted animal breeding and makes several appearance edits free. That ongoing support may appeal if you want a world to revisit, but it means a guide or event plan can become outdated. Check the scenario and server you are actually in.

Potential friction

Once Human lists online co-op, PvP, in-app purchases and chance-based purchases on Steam. A free download does not remove the need to think about social modes, event schedules or spending. The game can also ask you to divide a session among exploration, crafting, base work and combat. A player seeking a short, linear story may prefer a different rhythm.

We cannot attest to server stability, the difficulty of a current boss or how fast a new player earns a particular resource. Those claims require live testing in a named scenario. A spectacular publisher screenshot should not stand in for evidence of how a session feels.

Test its core loop, not its shop

Build a compact functional shelter, secure supplies, complete an ordinary encounter, then decide whether preparing for the next trip sounds enjoyable. If playing with friends matters, test the group route in your region. Read event eligibility and store rules only after you know you like the survival loop.

Verdict: Once Human looks worth trying for players who enjoy cooperative survival and personal base projects over time. If the preparation loop sounds like chores, a free trial should reveal that before you invest money. This is an inference from the cited sources, not a hands-on VexRig review.
